| 内容記述 | This paper attempts to synthesize the findings from the experience in implementing a village support project (VSP) in the upland area of northern Lao PDR where slash-and-burn agriculture predominates. The VSP, launched in 1995 as a social experiment through partnership among the four parties concerned, has employed a participatory approach in supporting the village communities in undertaking project activities such as community water supply, school education improvement, and village forest conservation. The organizational and institutional arrangements for the VSP are designed to ensure active participation of village community members in decision processes, project implementation, operation and maintenance. The findings from the project experience have been analysed from the perspectives of assisted village self-reliance and development from within. | |||||||||||
