For clarifying relationship between land use and topography, we need to understand the natural state of land. In this approach, an elevation grid theme (is also known as layer) and its contours, hill shade grid theme, grid themes of slope and aspect of DEM are created by surface menu of an application package of ArcView - Spatial Analyst. Then a display of land use grid theme with the brightness of each land use color controlled by hill shade is made.
